Passing the Eye of a Typhoon

I created a piece dedicated to construction workers in the province of Groningen. They became the protagonists of the performance, while the data center and the electric power grid, symbolizing corporate and governmental power, remained an ominous presence in the background.

By reversing this power structure in the performance, I wanted to give them a momentary spotlight and a pause by offering them an easier performative task and better financial compensation. However, the performance had to suspend due to the intertwined relationship of power and surveillance that again refused to leave even a slight room for the subversion.
