Artist statement
Enzy Jhang is an artist from Korea and currently based in the Netherlands.
She researches the agencies of human bodies living in contemporary times. She uses visceral performances and site-specific manner to understand the exploitative forces on the physical body. By tracing down the physical and emotional sensations from her personal experiences, the artist＊s works aim to amplify and trandscend the unequal nature of the invisible systems of our society.
Ranging from intimate childhood spaces to contemporary urban landscapes, the artist responds to the pre-existing framework of the spaces in a site-specific manner. The work is not limited to a single medium but transforms between installation, performance, moving image and many more.
A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Jhang has presented her work in Rietveld UNCUT at the Stedelijk Museum, as well as at M4 gastatelier, Bradwolff Projects, 4bid Gallery, and SIGN(Groningen).
