Thesis Design #2
Overview
Strange Bodies is a thesis publication designed for Agathe Plouzennec, exploring the intersection of body horror theory and sculpture. The book investigates how sculptural forms can embody or evoke transformation, decay, and visceral human vulnerability — central themes within the genre of body horror.
Concept & Materiality
The design embraces the book as a physical body: its cover is made of mirror-finish metallic stock, inviting viewers to see their own distorted reflection — a metaphor for the viewer’s implicated presence in the text’s themes. The embossed typography and illustrations are intentionally placed to align with the areas readers touch, encouraging a tactile interaction that mirrors the bodily focus of the thesis.
